ONE WHO IS FAITHFUL IN A VERY LITTLE IS ALSO FAITHFUL IN MUCH.
One of the things I’ve tried to instill in my children is to keep doing the little things that no one but God notices. It’s easy to keep doing something when we are receiving lots of attention and acknowledgement for our work. It’s another thing when we rarely get a pat on the back for our labor. It’s in those times we must press forward to be faithful in the little things.
When we are faithful in our giving, even though we don’t have much, God sees and will bless us with more to give. When we are faithful in our jobs that are lower on the totem pole, God sees and will bless us with greater responsibilities as well as promotions. When we are faithful in doing the right things toward those who could care less about us, God sees and will reward us in greater ways.
As we practice being faithful in the little things, it becomes a way of life for us. Therefore, when God blesses us with favor and honor, we continue in the same method regardless of how much we are given. The opposite is also true. If we are stingy with the little we have, we will be stingy with greater treasures. Some people believe that if God blesses them with a lot of money, they will give more generously to the kingdom.
However, if we aren’t giving it now, we won’t give it later, even if it’s in excess of what we need or desire. We are creatures of habit; and without the convicting power of God, we will forget how the little things matter.
Dear Lord, help me to be faithful in the smaller things of life so I can experience a greater fulfillment of Your purpose for me. In Jesus’ name, amen
