I will strengthen the weak.

Ezekiel 34:16

All of us have days when we feel weak against our flesh, adversity, people, and circumstances. When we are in a weakened spiritual, emotional, or physical state—we can find ourselves tempted in many different ways. We can pull strength from A-B-O-V-E in order to overcome this time of weakness:

A – Acknowledge that we are feeling weak. (Hebrews 4:14-15)
When we are weak, we need to first acknowledge what we are feeling instead of pretending that we are strong. Our acknowledgement to God involves praying and seeking His strength.

B – Be willing to take corrective measures. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
When we are weak, we have the grace of God to help us. This means we have to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God and accept His ways over our own inclinations.

O – Open our hearts and minds to God’s word. (Hebrews 4:12)
When we are weak, we can cling to the scriptures for renewed strength. Many of us are in a weakened state due to our lack of discipline to read, listen, and apply God’s word to our everyday life.

V – Vanquish opportunities for our carnal nature to thrive. (Colossians 3:5)
When we are weak, we should put to death the things of our flesh that continue to pull us away from the Spirit. As long as we continue to feed the longings of our sinful nature, we will remain spiritually weak.

E – Equip those who are weak with the truth of our testimony. (1 Thessalonians 5:14)
When we are weak, we remember those who may be weaker than us and we strengthen them with the words of our testimony. As we help others in the faith, we are helping ourselves as well.

Dear Lord, I need Your strength from above to conquer my weaknesses. Restore in me a renewed desire to overcome weakness. Amen.
