Read: John 10:1-18

For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. (Ps. 48:14 NIV)

We had never used a disability airport guide before, but we were grateful our travel agent suggested one in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Meeting us at the plane, he grabbed my wheelchair and told my traveling companions to follow him. He knew how to fill out our travel documents and maneuver through customs and immigration. He knew all the tricks to get us out of the airport the fastest way possible. Without his guidance, we would have been totally lost.

God always guides his people. In the Old Testament, he guided the Israelites through the desert in a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13). In the New Testament, he sent Jesus to be our shepherd and guide. Jesus is the best guide because he taught us the best way to maneuver through life. If we follow his ways of love and forgiveness, life tends to go smoother. Our good shepherd laid down his life for us on the cross so we can follow him throughout our lives and eventually to heaven.

Our disability guide was just doing his job; he didn’t care really what happened to us after we left the airport. Our guide Jesus cares deeply for us and will never leave us. What a good guide we have! When we follow his leading, we will not get lost in this life or in the next! —Steve Laman

As you pray, thank Jesus for guiding you throughout your life.
